OUR HISTORY
Mound City Bank began operations as a state-chartered bank on February
18, 1915 in Platteville, Wisconsin. The founders of the bank mirrored
the 4,500 residents of the City of Platteville, representing both
farming and business interests. Their fierce independence and commitment
to community remains the cornerstone of the bank's philosophy even
today.
In 1935, Mound City Bank established a branch in Belmont, WI in
order to expand the bank's credit and deposit service area. Full
financial services are still provided today through the Belmont
office. The Cuba City, Wisconsin branch was acquired in 1992 and
allowed the bank to provide more convenient full service banking
to the Southern portion of our market area. Deposits at the Cuba
City branch office have more than quadrupled since its opening in
1992.
In 1995, the bank constructed a new motor branch directly across
the street from its main office in Platteville. The new motor branch
offers convenient drive-up banking, drive-up ATM services, a full-service
lobby, lending offices and a community room. The bank completed
construction and remodeling of the main office in 1996, doubling
its previous size and affording the bank the space it needed to
provide new and non-traditional banking services to its ever-growing
customer base.
Today MCB Online Banking allows for 24 x 7 internet access from anywhere
in the world. MCB Online Banking customers can view their account,
transfer money from account to account, and pay bills conveniently
from their home or office.
Convenient 24-hour telephone banking continues to grow in customer usage.
In 1997, Mound City Bank shareholders approved the formation of
Mound City Financial Services, Inc., a one-bank holding company.
The holding company formation increases the bank's options for continued
growth and expansion of its current products and services as well
as the development of new non-traditional products, and the expansion
of its market area.
A Mount Horeb branch location was established in 2007 along with a Mineral Point branch location in 2008 to provide market share growth along the Hwy 151 corridor.
Mound City Bank has come a long way from its humble beginnings
as a $55,000 total asset bank in 1915. Today with assets of over
$230 million, five full-service offices and over 62 full-time equivalent
employees, we are proud to proclaim ourselves the premiere provider
of financial services in Southwest Wisconsin.
